Some people think that undertaking mindfulness requires
having a very high IQ, but the truth is that it is not this way. Instead,
mindfulness allows us to improve performance in any activity we perform.
Javier Carril in the prologue of the book by Ulyses
Villanueva, “Mindfulness Meditación para gente de alto rendimiento”
("Mindfulness Meditation for high performance people"), highlights
that this technique is used by large businesses, and especially by "the
most innovative companies" like Google, because "it not only improves
employees’ well-being, but it is a mental training to increase productivity,
leadership and creativity".
Villanueva agrees that mindful practice helps people manage
to give their body and mind a chance to rest more effectively than with
sleeping hours, and therefore they can raise their levels of creativity and
concentration.
He also stresses that the best performance is achieved
because mindfulness makes practitioners more consistent in their actions, in
the small ephemeral details that often go unnoticed, and in short, it creates a
state of renewal.
